Your Privacy is very important to us and we will always ensure that your data is safe and secure. Your data will never be disclosed to anyone other than our regulated Processors referred to below. This Privacy Policy sets out how we collect and use your personal information and what your individual data protection and privacy rights are.

The Auld Forge are registered as data controllers with the UK Information Commissioner in terms of Data Protection Act 1998 and EU Directive 2016/679 and we collect and safeguard all personal data conform to our obligations in terms of that Act, that Directive and the foregoing provisions of our Terms and Conditions

When you share your personal information with us, you have a right to expect that information to be treated with total confidentiality. When you order from The Auld Forge
We collect only your basic personal details required to process your order. We will not release your name, address, email address or any other information about you to any outside party save to regulatory authorities as required by law.  Our policy is to keep the personal information we receive completely confidential. and used solely for internal purposes. We will not share your personal information with any other parties, and we only use cookies to facilitate your order process. If you are concerned about your personal data, you have the right to request access to personal data which we hold or process about you. You have the right to require us to correct any inaccuracies in your data free of charge.

The right to change your mind

Our email newsletters contain marketing and promotional information.  You can choose to sign up to this either when registering to place an order or by joining our mailing list.  At any stage you have the right to ask us to stop using your personal data for direct marketing purposes.

 

How long do we keep your information for?

We will retain the personal data you have shared with us no longer than is necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including satisfying any legal, accounting or reporting requirements.

Different retention periods apply for different types of data dependent up on your last purchase date with us or, if you haven’t purchased, the date we first received your data. The longest we will hold any personal data is 6 years plus the current financial year. Details of retention periods for personal data are available in our retention policy which you can request by contacting us.

In some circumstances, we may anonymise your personal data (so that it can no longer be associated with you) for research or statistical purposes in which case we may use this aggregated and anonymised information indefinitely without further notice to you.

Sharing your personal data with third-party processors

As part of delivering our products and services to you, we share your personal data with carefully chosen Third Party Processors who carry out services on our behalf. Any third party that communicates with you on our behalf must only do so for the purpose of carrying out the services and not for the purpose of direct marketing their own products and services. Your personal data rights

Right of access

You may wish to access a copy of the personal data we hold about you - known as a Subject Access Request. You can do so by ringing, writing to or emailing us. We will respond to your Subject Access Request as soon as possible and, in any event, within the statutory 30 days. However, in the event that we need more information from you to verify your identity, which we must do to ensure we disclose your personal data to the right person, the 30-day response period will only commence from the time that we have validated your identity.Please be aware that for security reasons we do not usually provide details of any bank details that we hold against your account(s).

Right of rectification

If you believe we have made an error as to the personal data we hold about you, please speak to one of our team members team who will be able to process the correction for you.

Right of erasure

You have the right to request your personal data to be permanently deleted from our records and systems to avoid any further communication with you. Your request will always be considered in light of the legal bases that we hold, store and process your personal data and the purpose that we collected your data. Where the legal bases permits, we will carry out your instruction without undue delay. Please note, however, that where we have a legal or contractual obligation to hold your personal data, we may not be able to carry out your request but we will explain this fully to you. Please address any request to delete your data to the Information Governance team.

Right to be informed

You have the right to be informed about the collection and use of your personal data. This is commonly known as a ‘privacy statement’ or ‘privacy policy’. Google analytics

Social buttons  
On many of the pages of the site you will see ‘social buttons’. These enable users to share or bookmark the web pages. There are buttons for: Twitter, Google +1, Facebook ‘Like’, LinkedIn ‘Share’, and StumbleUpon. In order to implement these buttons, and connect them to the relevant social networks and external sites, there are scripts from domains outside of our website. You should be aware that these sites are likely to be collecting information about what you are doing all around the internet, including our website. So if you click on any of these buttons, these sites will be registering that action and may use that information. In some cases these sites will be registering the fact that you are visiting The Auld Forge, and the specific pages you are on, even if you don’t click on the button if you are logged into their services, like Google and Facebook. You should check the respective policies of each of these sites to see how exactly they use your information and to find out how to opt out, or delete, such information.

Email tracking  
Some emails that we send you have no tracking in at all e.g. service emails with invoices attached. Other emails we send we put in tracking so that we can tell how much traffic those emails send to our site but we do not know who has clicked so the data is anonymous e.g. our promotional email. Some emails we can track, at an individual level, whether the user has opened and clicked on the email. We rarely use the latter information at a personal level, rather we use it to understand open and click rates on our emails to try and improve them. If you want to be sure that none of your email activity is tracked then you should opt out of The Auld Forge emails which you can do via Your Account or by clicking on the unsubscribe link of any email newsletter we send you.
